Every December I’m always trying to create fun moments of connection that don’t require a ton of effort. Christmas magic doesn’t make itself, but when the schedule is full, I need something I can pull out on a random weeknight without feeling like I’ve added one more thing to my plate.
This Advent Dice Bingo game has become one of those easy wins for us. It’s quick to learn, works for all ages, and all you need is a handful of dice and a sheet of paper. That’s it. No prep, no pieces to keep track of, just simple holiday fun that still feels special.
We played this as one of our games at our family Christmas gathering this year and it was a hit!
This is a fun game for both families and classrooms! Perfect for snow days and quick game breaks. If you want to give it a try with your family, here’s how to play.
What You Need
- 4 Dice (This is a great set if you don’t have any)
- A Bingo Sheet for each player (Grab the free printable)
- Something to mark with
How to Play Advent Dice Bingo
The goal is to be the first player to get TWO BINGOs.
Each player needs to make a 5×5 Grid with 25 squares. Number the squares starting in the upper left hand corner with 0 and ending with 24 in the lower right hand corner. (for the 24 days leading up to Christmas!) You can also choose to make the center space a free space and number the squares 1-24. All of these options are included in the printable.
Here’s how a turn works:
Choose Your Dice
The player whose turn it is decides how many dice to roll. 1, 2, 3, or 4.

Roll and Use the Results
Once the dice are rolled, every player (not just the player who rolled) uses those same dice to create a number they can mark on their sheet.
You can add or subtract the dice in any combination, but you must use all the dice that were rolled.
Example:
- Santa rolls three dice which result in a 6, 3, and 2.
- He adds them all together: 6+3+2 = 11, so he marks off 11 on his sheet.
- Mrs. Claus chooses to subtract the dice: 6-3-2 = 1, so she marks 1
- Bernard the Elf adds the 6+3=9 then subtracts 9-2=7 and marks off his seven.
Everyone finds the number they can make and marks it on their sheet if possible. As the game continues, it’s likely that there may be some dice rolls where you are unable to mark off a number on your sheet because it was previously marked off. That is fine, you’ll just not mark anything off that round.
Pass and Repeat
Pass the dice to the next player who chooses how many dice to roll.
Get Those Bingos!
A Bingo is five boxes in a row; horizontal, vertical, or diagonal. The first person to get two bingos wins.

Fun Ways to Switch It Up
If your family wants a bit of variety, here are a couple ways to make the game even more fun!
Create your own board.
Use a blank bingo card (included in the printable) and fill in numbers 0-24 in any order. Now each player has a unique to them board and can strategize the best locations to put each number.
Three Bingo Challenge
For a longer game, play until someone gets one of each Bingo type:
- 1 horizontal Bingo
- 1 Vertical Bingo
- 1 Diagonal Bingo
And of course, you can always play for a blackout!
