If you’re looking for fun, screen-free Alexa games for kids, you might be surprised at just how many great free options there are. Our family has Alexa Pops in nearly every room, and they’ve become part of our daily rhythm — enjoying music while crafting, listening to audiobooks at bedtime, and the kids playing voice-activated games that don’t require a single screen.

Every game on this list is completely free to play (or has a free demo that’s plenty of fun, we have never paid for a game or an in-game purchase on Alexa), making them an easy way to add a little extra fun to your day. Whether you’re running your own Lemonade Stand, exercising with active games, or testing your animal knowledge, these free Alexa games are perfect for keeping kids entertained and screen-free.
Games on Alexa are considered “skills.” To play them, you first need to enable the skill. You can do this by saying “Alexa, enable (name of the game)” and Alexa should then confirm that the skill is enabled. Or you can open the Alexa app on your phone or tablet, use the search bar to find your game and then enable the game from its page. (all of the games below are linked to help you enable them!)
Once the skill is enabled, you can play by saying either of the following:
“Alexa, Play/Open/Start ___________” Either of the words should work, but sometimes you may need to switch up what you say (play/open/start) based on how Alexa is hearing you.
Educational Games:
- Alexa, Play: Lemonade Stand Game: economics strategy game where you run a lemonade stand. You’ll make decisions on how much to spend on advertising and products, and consider how factors like the weather will impact your potential profit margins. It’s ridiculously fun and highly educational.
If you only play one game on the Alexa, let it be this one! - Alexa, Play: State Capital Game: Learn cities, states, and capitals as Alexa gives you the name of a capital and you need to correctly respond with the state.
- Alexa, Play: Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?: Answer trivia questions a 5th grader should know to see if you can get them correct.
Immersive Storytelling Games
- Alexa, Play: Escape the Room: You’re trapped inside a room and must escape. Look for objects and use them help you explore the room, solve riddles, and escape. Three rooms are available for free with others available with a subscription.
- Alexa, Open The Magic Door: This is an interactive adventure game. Tell Alexa what choices to make as you explore the Magic land and discover different area with stories to engage with, puzzles to solve, and people to help. Ask your Alexa to “Open the Magic Door” and enjoy your adventure!
- Alexa, Play: Barbie You Can Be Anything: Assume the role of one of Barbie’s iconic careers like a veterinarian, gymnast or astronaut and help Barbie. Part storytelling, part game. My 6 year old daughter’s favorite!
- Alexa, Play Knight Manager: Go the distance and make a hero out of a weak knight in this audio based game. You’ll need to upgrade weapons, increase your fighting abilities, and then of course put them to the test by dueling knights and joining jousting tournaments. This is a fun one my boys enjoy.
- Alexa, Play: Justice League Adventures: In this choose-your-own-adventure style game you listen to the story and choose what to do along the way. Each decision changes how your story goes.
- Alexa, Play: Gator Lake: Your keys are in the middle of an alligator infested lake. You need to choose your actions carefully to avoid the gators and get your keys back!
- Alexa, Play: Animal Rescue: Choose from a selection of animals and help the conservation efforts of those animals and learn along the way.
Movement Games:
- Alexa, Play: Animal Workout: Get’s kids moving. Move like a snake, stomp like an elephant, and learn a bit about animals along the way.
- Alexa, Play: Simon Says: Play Simon Says with Alexa! Only do what Alexa says when the instructions begin with “Simon Says,” otherwise you’re out of the game.
Quiz & Guessing Games
There are a plethora of quiz and trivia games available on the Alexa! These are just a few of our favorites ones.
- Alexa, Play: Akinator: Try to stump Alexa by thinking of a character, real or fictional, and then Alexa will ask you questions to try to figure out who your character is. Get clever and try to stump the game!
- Alexa, Play: Animal Game: Test Alexa’s animal knowledge by having her guess an animal of your choice. Like Akinator, this is a subtly educational game as players need to think of all the attributes of the animal to correctly answer questions. Stumping Alexa will also require some good strategy to select an obscure, hard to guess animal.
- Alexa, Play: The Price is Right: Guess the prices of items on Amazon. Closest to the correct price wins. (We tell the game that only 1 player is playing, any more players currently requires purchase.)
- Alexa, Play: Disney Hits Challenge: Answer questions on you Disney songs, characters, and titles. Try to get as many points as you can to prove you’re the Disney expert.
- Alexa, Play: Song Quiz: Guess the song title and artist of a song to score points. Play against your family or the Alexa.
