Great Wooden Board Games

Wooden board games are some of my favorite types of games to play. There is just something about the feel of the wooden components and the often organic and artistic nature of the game design. We’re sharing about a few of our favorite wooden board games to play, from small pocket size games to art pieces you can hang on your wall.

Color Fox

Collect sets of wooden matchsticks by connecting cards with color matches. The more matches you connect, the more matchsticks you can win.

StickUP

Drop wooden sticks and be the first to tap the cards with the matching pattern in this fast-paced competitive matching game you can play with 2 to 5 players.

K3

Build your player tower and then use your tokens to climb to the top of the mountain in this stacking game.

Katamino + Katamino Family

A wooden puzzle game with increasing levels of difficulty sure to delight any age! We also love Katamino Family for even more fun ways to play with the blocks.

Gobblet

Line four of your Gobblets in a row to win. Use larger Gobblets to gobble up your opponent’s smaller ones to keep them from winning.

Quixo

It’s like tik-tac-toe and connect four had a baby! Be the first to get five in a row while working to control the ever changing layout of the board.

Pylos

You and your opponent will each use your spheres to create a pyramid with the goal of getting your colored sphere on top. Do that and you win!

Quoridor

Be the first to get your pawn to the other side of the board while using your wall pieces to strategically stop your opponent from doing the same.

Quarto

One of my all time favorites. Attempt to get four like items in a row with a simple catch — you don’t get to choose what pieces you place, your opponent does!

Qawale

Mancala meets Connect Four. Stack stones and drop them off one by one on each space you move over. Line up four in a row of your color to win! (We’ll forgive you if you think the pieces look like pancakes. Or are they chicken nuggets? Hamburgers?)

Cathedral

In this gorgeous game for two players you’ll place your city tiles on the board in an attempt to either play them all or be left with the fewest square units of buildings remaining at the end.

Klask

All the fun of air hockey played on your table with a beautiful, wooden board. One of our favorite games to pull out for parties.

Crokinole

Crokinole is the creme de la creme when it comes to wooden games. This classic Canadian gem has an heirloom quality to it and looks amazing stored on your wall as art. Flick discs across the surface to knock your opponent out of the ring and score
