Board Games for Kids at Target
Outfoxed: A must for preschoolers. A classic whodunnit cooperative mystery that you can play again and again and again.
Speed Colors: a must if your kids love coloring. This game works just as well as a calming activity as it does a game!
Sequence for Kids: One of my favorite kids games! This is a must for every preschooler and makes a great first game for kids around age 3-4 and beyond!
Garden Heist: An adorable hide and seek board game. This was one of our stand out kids games of 2024!
Hurry Up Chicken Butt: Great if you’re needing a game that allows your toddlers and preschoolers to get their wiggles out! They get to run around the room a bit and be silly while still keeping the chaos contained.
I Want My Teeth Back: A cute preschool game. Great for learning to count and make simple strategy decisions.
Eye Found it! Hidden Picture Game: if your kids love seek and find puzzles, this series is not to be missed. Grab the board game or the travel friendly card game. There’s also a dinosaur version!
Bitty Pop! Chase Game I found this game to be a great alternative to Candyland! Players roll dice and choose which order to move characters along the track. They’ll have to strategize who to move when so they get the most points at the finish line.
Junior Detective: a logical deduction game for kids. There are 40 mysteries to solve — our kids played this for a solid two weeks together going through all the cases.
Traitor Tots: A card game of Hot Potato. Our kids loved playing this with their friends when they came over. The cackling was loud and the laughter plentiful.
The Best Worst Ice Cream: a quick and cute card game where kids are learning to make logical decisions based on known information.
Spot It!: One of my favorite travel games. I keep it in my purse when we’re heading out so that I can pull it out at restaurants, hotels, or anywhere I need a helpful distraction to keep the kids happy.
Minecraft Magnetic Travel Puzzle: 40 logic puzzles that help make car rides fly! One of my favorite quiet time activities to have on hand at home.
13 Beavers: Fun for kids and adults, players will need to balance risk and reward in this simple push your luck racing game. Cute and quick!
Family Board Games at Target
Ticket to Ride: One of the best classic family games. Collect train cards to claim routes and complete tickets. If you are wanting to get into the world of board games, this is one of the best places to start.
A Gentle Rain: If you need a way to wind down and relax, this solo game is for you! I love how calming the game play is for both kids and adults.
Carcassonne: Carcassonne is another must play classic game! The more tiles added to the map, the more opportunities it opens up for players to snatch up a lot of points — so long as they see it before its too late!
Azul: A cut throat drafting game. Perfect to play with the whole family. The components are beautiful and as fun to play with as the game they belong to.
Planted: a relaxing drafting game where you’re filling your home with the loveliest house plants and getting them the resources they need like food, water, and sunlight. Beautiful and fun!
Survive the Island: One of our most favorite family games. Save your meeple from a sinking island; avoid sharks, monsters, and other obstacles your opponents will send your way.
Boop: A friendly game for two! I love these simple three-in-a-row challenges. Because the cats push everything around them away when they’re added to the board, it really makes you have to stop and plan your moves carefully.
Tokaido: a relaxing game. Each section of the board functions like its own little mini game. You’ll have to balance doing well in a few different ones without spreading yourself too thin.
King of Tokyo Origins: a dice rolling, monster fighting classic! Dice games have a way of creating a lot of fun and exciting moments and King of Tokyo does it every time!
Zillionaires: Bid on slots on the board to get four in a row. Block others by bidding on the spaces they need most. One of our favorite betting games!
Tetris: we love how this game captures the essence of Tetris in a new format. Quick a light, it’s a great option for kids to play on their own with siblings or friends!
Clue Escape: These are lighter escape rooms great for beginners, families, or kids wanting to try a mystery game on their own! Play it all in one sitting or break it up over a few different play sessions thanks to the built in stopping points.
Lorcana Gateway Trading Card Game: This is the best way to get into the Lorcana game if you’ve been wanting to jump in! This walks you through how to play the game, from learning to set up your deck, how the actions work, and how to play your hand.
Sequence Classic: I love this game for when I need something that I can play with anyone. It’s the kind of game you can play while catching up with each other. Perfect for holiday gatherings with family.
Chronicles of Light: Darkness Falls: A cooperative Disney game! Work together to complete missions. You’ll have to use each characters special talents wisely to be successful.
Trekking the National Parks: A fun game whether you’ve been to many national parks or dream of going one day. Easy to learn and smooth to play!
Horrified: Work together to defeat classic monsters of legend and lore. I love how each monster operates differently requiring players to change up their strategies and formulate new plans of attack.
Splendor: a classic! Collect gems to attract the finest nobility. I love the feeling of urgency you get as the game begins to near its end and you’re looking for all the ways to thwart your opponents and emerge victorious.
Monopoly Deal: My favorite version of Monopoly. A great reimagining of the classic as a card game.
Strategy Board Games at Target
The Quacks of Quedlinburg: A fantastic game! Put ingredients into your bag, then pull them out one at a time, pushing your luck to get as many out as you can without busting and walking away with nothing. I plan on playing this game forever.
Wingspan: This competitive strategy game is all about creating powerful combinations from the bird cards you’ll play into your habitats. Each game feels new thanks to the 170 unique bird cards to play with.
Patchwork: one of the most perfect games for two! Draft patchwork tiles and place them on your quilt. Generate enough button income to pay for the best tiles because the more empty space on your quilt, the more points you’ll lose! There’s also a Christmas edition!
Res Arcana: 100% YES! You’re a mage vying for power against your rivals. You have to use their personal deck wisely to claim power before it’s stolen out from under you.
Harvest: A farming game you can play solo or up to four players. This is a worker placement game where you’ll need to choose your actions wisely because the harvest season doesn’t last long!
Beacon Patrol: A relaxing yet tricky tile placement game. Great for solo or cooperative play and much harder than it looks!
Flamecraft: I love how impressive this game looks on the table while still being a great entry level strategy game for both kids and adults.
Everdell: I love how tight this game is right from the jump! I always seem to have too many things to do and never enough time. But that makes sense since building your bustling critter village is tough work!
Fire Tower: A game of fire fighting (and spreading!) tactics. The pieces in this game are top notch and I love how even if you’re tower burns down, you’re not out of the game; in fact, you may be even more powerful!
Pandemic: Work together to save the world from an outbreak of deadly diseases. This is a classic cooperative game that everyone should play at least once!
Camel Up: This is one of those games that is going to surprise you by how fun it is. You’re betting on camel races and it has the perfect blend of strategy and silliness that game night memories are made of.
Baren Park: a tile placement puzzle that will delight you for an endless number of games. As soon as I think I’ve got it figured out, the game humbles me on the next play!

Tapple: This is the type of game you can bring to all of your gatherings and play with anyone. Easy, fast, fun, and non-threatening to lure in those that otherwise might pass on playing.
That Escalated Quickly: A game all about putting absurd things in order is the perfect fit when your group is ready to laugh together. Great for teens!
Herd Mentality: Answer questions not with what you think is the correct answer, but what you think everyone else is going to say. This is a great choice if you’re wanting a game you can play on the couch.
Really Loud Librarians: A perfect example of an addicting party game. You can play it with a big group or enjoy it as a two-player game. Fun for kids and adults alike.
