Doctor Strange Themed Marvel Legendary Decks

With the Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness movie on the horizon, it’s time to celebrate with four custom Marvel Legendary Doctor Strange decks!

What is Marvel Legendary

Marvel Legendary is a deck building game set in the Marvel Comics universe for 1 to 5 players. It also happens to be our favorite game!

To play, you’ll choose a Mastermind for your heroes to fight. Next you’ll select your Scheme which sets unique conditions that the heroes must overcome. Then you’ll build a villain deck, this will be determined sometimes by the scheme you select and the number of players. Then you’ll build your hero deck. The brave warriors who will be attempting to take down the Mastermind.

To celebrate Doctor Strange, we’ll give you five heroes all themed around an aspect of Doctor Strange’s story. Due to the variability of the scheme, cards you have, and players at the table, we’ll leave the villains deck assembly up to you.

Important to note, you must have the Legendary Base Game in order to play the below themed decks.
These decks will pull heavily from the recent Doctor Strange and the Shadows of Nightmare Legendary expansion, which we have a full review of here.

One last thing: These setups are purely thematic. There may be other combinations of heroes that work better together; making the game easier or more difficult. These deck suggestions are completely for the love of and excitement of Doctor Strange.

If you choose to play with one of these or come up with your own Doctor Strange themed deck we’d love to hear how your game played out! Send us a shot of your battle and tag us on Instagram so we can see!

Don’t forget to check out our other themed decks for Black Widow and Avenger’s Infinity War.
All Marvel Legendary posts.

Deck One – Multiverse of Madness

Doctor Strange teams up with himself to battle…himself! What more madness could you ask for? To create this deck we used the Doctor Strange Commander from Marvel Legendary Villains — a stand alone game where players play as the villains against the heroes. This worked surprisingly well and was a ton of fun! If you don’t have Villains, you can substitute any other regular Mastermind.

Heroes: Doctor Strange (Doctor Strange), The Vishanti (Doctor Strange), Dr. Strange (Secret Wars Vol. 1), Dr. Punisher Soldier Supreme (Secret Wars Vol. 2), & Venomized Dr. Strange (Venom)

Mastermind: Doctor Strange (Villians)

Suggested Villain Groups: Defenders (Villians) & The Mighty (Fear Itself)

Scheme:  Pan-Dimensional Plague (Secret Wars Vol. 1)

Deck Two – Multiverse of Madness Movie Theme

In this deck we attempted to pair together the characters we can’t wait to see on screen together. Compiled from the cast list and trailer cameos this deck has us preordering our tickets for opening night!

Heroes: Dr. Strange (Secret Wars Vol. 1), Scarlet Witch (Revelations), Professor X (Dark City), Ms. America (Dimensions), Wiccan (Civil War)

Mastermind: Dormammu (Doctor Strange)

Suggested Villain Groups: Lords of the Nether World (Doctor Strange) & Fear Lords (Doctor Strange)

Scheme: Claim Souls for Demons (Doctor Strange)

Deck Three – No Way Home

What better way to get excited for the new movie than by creating a deck around No Way Home? In order to get all our favorite Sinister Six villains from the movie into the game you have to use the War for the Dream Dimension scheme from the Doctor Strange expansion. This Scheme allows you to add in an extra villain group!

Heroes: Spiderman (Base Game), Symbiote Spider-Man (Paint the Town Red), Peter Parker (Civil War), Doctor Strange (Doctor Strange), Vemon (Vemon)

Mastermind: J. Jonah Jameson (Revelations)

Suggested Villain Groups: Spider Foes (Base Game), Emissaries of Evil (Dark City) & Sinister Six (Paint the Town Red)

These three villain groups get you Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, The Lizard, Electro, & Sandman)

Scheme: War for the Dream Dimension (Doctor Strange) *Allows you to add the extra Villian Group

Deck Four – Avengers End Game

If you want to relive one of the best Marvel battle scenes of all time, then this End Game deck is for you! Doctor Strange is teaming up to take on Thanos in Titan! Spider-Man would also be a great addition to this deck though we recommend using at least two Guardians together in a deck for best results.

Heroes: Doctor Strange (Doctor Strange), Iron Man (Base Game), Star Lord (Guardians) Drax (Guardians), Nebula (Into the Cosmos)

Mastermind: Thanos (Guardians)

Suggested Villain Groups: Infinity Gems (Guardians) & Black Order of Thanos (Into the Cosmos)

Scheme: Forge the Infinity Gauntlet (Guardians)
