Board Games like Splendor
Wondering if there are any great board games like Splendor? We’ll give you our top recommendations for what to play next!
Splendor is a wonderful, easy to learn game where you’re rushing to get 15 victory points before your opponents. Players must strategically make use of their turn to draft gems or spend gems to purchase the tiles they need to better their position for the next turn. In Splendor, every turn counts and one wrong move can tip the scales out of your favor for the rest of the game.
Splendor is defined by is brilliantly simple rules, tight game play, and strategic engine building challenge. If you love Splendor, be sure to check out these other board games with similar qualities that we think you’ll enjoy! We’ve separated them into categories based on the main elements of Splendor they share.
Engine Building Board Games like Splendor
At one time called a “Splendor Killer” Century Spice Road takes all of the wonderful engine building qualities of Splendor and adds a little bit more to it making for a truly well rounded strategy game.
Splendor Duel
Without a doubt, Splendor Duel is our favorite way to play Splendor at two players and it may just be my favorite version of Splendor in general. It has smoothed out all the rough edges of Splendor to make it an excellent game for two.
Point City
Point City shares a lot of the drafting and resource generating similarities with Splendor. Fans who love the challenge of finding ways to draft the cards they need to have enough permanent resources to purchase tiles for free in the future will love finding that anew in Point City. Plus with so many unique cards you’ll never play the same game twice!
Honk!
In many ways this feels like a Splendor for children. If you have younger preschoolers and Kindergarteners in the home, this game is one we highly recommend. Perfect for learning how to create sets and plan for future moves by strategizing a few turns ahead.
It’s a Wonderful World
One of our favorite games of all time shares many similarities with Splendor. It’s a Wonderful World is a must play engine building game!
Gizmos
Just like Splendor delights with its unique, poker like gem tokens, you’ll love using the marbles in Gizmos. Gizmos is a tricky engine building game that you’ll love playing again and again to perfect your strategy.
Drafting & Set Collection Board Games like Splendor
Knarr
Knarr sees you as the leader of a band of Vikings. You’ll be drafting your crew to head out to territories to explore. This element harkens back to the gem collecting of Splendor as you’ll build up your Viking crew, each with a different color. The more Vikings you have in each color, the stronger your crew becomes.
This game will release in the US February 16th
Vivarium
Vivarium has a really fun drafting mechanic where players will use dominoes to create coordinates that allow them to draft a specific card from the grid. The dominoes combined with the excellent Pokemon-esk art style make for a really aesthetically pleasing game.
Bärenpark
A tile placement game all about building your own bear park. You’ll draft tiles and race to get the best ones to fill up your park. Like Splendor Barenpark is easy to learn and quick to teach to new players with lots of fun decisions to make that keeps each game interesting.
Wild Space
Wild Space is all about building combos and creating sets. Just like in Splendor how players need to find ways to create permanent resources for them to pull on to get higher valued cards, Wild Space challenges players to find the best ways to play their cards to trigger chain reactions — stretching a single action into what feels like multiple!
Spellbook
For players who love a lot of variety in their games, Spellbook is for you! You’ll work to collect sets to create spell combinations which gives you different powerful effects to use throughout the game. You’ll balance the decisions to use spells early, though at less power, or work a bit longer to power them up fully before unleashing them. There are over 2,100 possible spell combinations so you’ll experience a different game every time!
