Board Game Gift Guide for Kids 2023

Ages 18months to 3+

This is one of the best games for the youngest of gamers. Simple rules, encourages movement, and a great way to expand those ever evolving vocabulary skills.

This classic is my go-to for introducing rules beginning around age 2. The pieces are so well made it will last you all of your children and still look brand new.

I love games with themes kids can relate to and what’s better than going to bed? There are multiple ways to play this game and you’ll be surprised how long your kids love to play! My six year old still asks to get this one out!

This early dexterity game is great for teaching cause and effect, learning about balance, and helping kids work on gentle movements.

I love Go Fish for kids who are still getting the hang of following rules and taking turns. This game is great option for helping introduce and identify letters. We love the sturdy cards that have an almost lamination feel to them to help hold up to little hands.

This is a cute memory game that’s a nice upgrade from the classic flip and match. All our kids gather round to play anytime this hits the table!

Finding the Dragon: Bedtime story SORTED! I love this cute book! It’s the perfect combination of a choose-your-own-adventure style story with a little game to bring the book to life.

Ages 4-7+

I really like how this game keeps the fun, cooperative spirit of the original and gives preschoolers the chance to make early strategy decisions, practice shapes, colors, and working together towards a goal.

Adorable and cooperative! This is a great Candyland alternative with lots of great color matching and strategy decisions that give kids control over the outcome.

A must for kids! The adorable animals win them all over every time — it’s the perfect game for kids to play with their grandparents, too!

If you’re looking for a solo kids game, this is my favorite of the year! Can also be played cooperatively as well.

I love a good spin on memory games and Midnight Market has all the good stuff! It’s competitive, but has three part scoring so each game can have more than one winner!

The use of the stamps is so clever! Kids will love using them and you’ll love how fast they speed up the writing portion of this roll and write! It also comes with many unique scoring tiles so you can customize your game to match the level of your players.

This game is just straight up adorable! Perfect for the whole family but especially beloved by those in the lower elementary grades who will love trying to scoop up as many fish as they can!

One of my favorite educational games! Practice addition and subtraction in this fun game all about feeding narwhals treats.

This simple card game is full of pure logical deduction goodness Don’t let it being in the kid section fool you, it’s fun for everyone!

I was utterly charmed by this cooperative game! You’ll work together to pass food to help everyone collect the treat they need before the dog grabs food off the table. My kids were obsessed with Fairy Bread for a solid 2 weeks after playing, so be ready to make some!

The adorable, vibrant art of the cards and cute quarter machine dispenser theme of Gasha is perfect for kids! One of those card games you’ll love playing with them as much as they do!

This is an adorable rethemeing of Patchwork with younger players in mind! Quicker and more streamlined game play has made it a perfect fit for our kids ages 6+

We love the goofy theme of this dice game! A great first dueling game for kids where you’ll collect flowers from the meadow and battle your opponents with your cow dice! (that’s right, the dice are cows!)

One of our absolute favorite kids games! Perfect for kids as young as 5 with the ability to up the difficulty as they grow. If the name looks familiar, it’s because it’s in the same world as Quacks of Quedlinburg!

The laughs this game has provided! You’ll try to help your blind folded partner trace a path through the racetrack without crashing while using their thumb like a joystick to guide them! If you have a kid that is drawn towards drawing games, this one is quite unique!

This is such an adorable roll and write for kids! Themed around the original game, kids will get a chance to learn how to set themselves up for combo moves to score big points!
