How to Play Memory Sequence

Choose a starting player.

That player selects one of the face down cards and flips it face up so both players can see. If the card is the Ace, they continue by flipping over another card. If it is not an Ace, they flip the card face down and end their turn.

Players alternate taking turns this way with the goal of flipping the cards over in order. Ace-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-Jack-Queen-King

Any time you reveal a card out of sequential order, flip over all cards back to face down, your turn ends. The first player to reveal the cards in order is the winner.

Tips for Playing Memory Sequence

Memory games arenโ€™t just fun, theyโ€™re incredibly beneficial for both kids and adults. For younger players, they strengthen focus, recall, and cognitive flexibility in a way that feels like play, not practice. For teens and adults, memory-based games help keep the mind sharp, improve pattern recognition, and even support long-term brain health. And for older adults, regularly engaging in memory challenges can boost mental agility and help maintain cognitive function over time.

When playing memory sequence, adjust the game to meet your player. If using all cards Ace-King is too challenging, lower the number of cards down to Ace – 10, or 9, or even 5. Whatever works best for the players age and ability. Increase the number of cards you play with as able.

For a more challenging game, use two suits from the deck and assign one to each player. Now players must reveal their own cards in sequential order before their opponent does the same.
