We’re giving a quick review of Space Invaders! In this cooperative dexterity game, players will work together to launch discs to take down aliens and the mothership!

How Do You Play Space Invaders?
Players begin with a small number of discs which increases as the game progresses, giving them more shots. Some discs also have special powers which players can use to increase their chances of a successful launch. Aliens that players fail to hit descend a number of spaces toward the bottom of the board for the next round. If an alien is moved down enough spaces it lands on the earth and harms the players.
Players must destroy all invaders and take down the mothership before the aliens defeat them.
What Do We Think of Space Invaders?
If you are looking for a way to shake up family game night, this is it! Space Invaders is just pure fun!
We love how Space Invaders manages to capture all the fun of the classic arcade game. The theme is universal and so fun for the whole family. Everyone instantly bands together against the aliens. It’s silly fun that will have you cheering and laughing throughout.
Dexterity with Some Strategy
Space Invaders tries to pair dexterity with strategy.
Each player has special discs that can allow them to do different things to increase their accuracy in one way or another. Some discs allow you to reshoot if you miss. Others give you an advantage against the mothership. Some allow you to use the range card to make missed shots count if they are within range of an alien.
Players also have to work together to take out the more powerful aliens. Some aliens require two hits to take them down. Other aliens protect the aliens around them, so players need to take those out first.
Ultimately though, this is a dexterity game and your success is going to come down largely to your ability to use the shooter. This can take some practice to figure out how to position and how hard to launch the discs, but that’s half the fun. It can be so tricky to make an accurate shot that when a player does, everyone cheers!
If I could change one thing about the game it would be to make the shooter a bit higher quality. But honestly, I think that for what this game is, it’s fine.
Space Invaders Review Summary
Space Invaders is a family game night no brainer. This is a great option for a fun Friday night activity or birthday gift. It’s also a game that kids can play together without adult help, but we’ve been known to play it for date night as well!
