16 Great Games to Give Your Mom for Mother’s Day

My love of games today can be traced directly back to my mom.

She is a sharp card player and so many of my childhood memories center around playing cards with her and our family.

Sometimes I’ll play a new game, and I’ll immediately think “oh, mom is going to love this one!” Those are truly the ones I can’t wait to share, because there are few things more fun than time spent together.

Games can be perfect gifts for Mother’s Day. Your mom truly just wants to spend time with you after all!

Here is a collection of some excellent games that make wonderful gifts for moms this year. There’s a good variety in styles and difficulty levels too, so there’s something for every one!

Rifle Paper Co Playing Cards

Perhaps your mother is a card player like mine! This gorgeous Rifle Paper Co playing card set is perfect for gifting. There are two decks and each has the most lovely floral print. Perfect for shuffling up for a Mother’s Day game of canasta! (She may also love this card tray too for tidy draw and discard piles!)

A beautiful set of Dominoes

Classic games never go out of style and this set is beautiful to both display on a shelf and play together. This embroidered box has all the feelings of treasured memories of kids and grandkids playing with mom’s favorite flower dominoes.

Floriferous

Pair this game with a lovely bouquet and you’ve got yourself a home run Mother’s Day gift! Floriferous is wonderfully easy to learn with the most delightful theme of strolling through a flower garden to make your arrangements.

Nice Cribbage Set

Cribbage was one of the first games my mother taught me, passed down from her father who taught her. I love this wooden set with a door that hinges open to hold your cards and score markers between games. It looks gorgeous displayed on a shelf.

Calico

This is a great choice for a puzzly experience. Who would have thought a game about quilting and cuddly cats could make your brain hurt just a little bit.

Planted

It’s hard to know which is the bigger show stopper in this one, the fun game or the beautiful components! This is a lovely pick and pass drafting game all about caring for your house plants. The standard components are better than many deluxe games I’ve seen!

Between Two Cities Essential Edition

Between Two Cities is one of our favorite family games. Allowing for up to 7 players, you’ll work to build a city with both the player on your left and the player on your right. You have to find a way to create two high scoring cities together, while making sure you don’t do too good allowing your opponents to win.

Dorfromantik

If you want a game you can play solo or cooperatively, Dorfromantik is my top choice! I’m not normally a solo game player but this one just sung to my soul. I love the calming tile placement puzzle and enjoyable challenges to complete. It plays like a video game which is fitting since it’s based off one!

Trio

This is the type of game you can play with anyone. Mom, dad, gamers and non gamers alike! Trust me, it’s going to be a hit.

Lacuna

This game is all about the aesthetics! I love the towel player board, the wooden flower tokens, and the mixed metal player markers. A two player gem!

Exit the Game

Give your mom the gift of an escape room at home. She’ll love solving the puzzles with you and working through the story. I’ve gifted my mother many of these and they’ve all gone over great!

Grandpa Beck’s Card Games

No one loves Grandpa Beck’s card games as much as actual grandparents. They are the perfect intersection between familiar game play with modern elements. If your mom loves playing rummy, go with their new game Another Man’s Treasure! My mom also loves Gnoming a Round, Antiquity Quest, and The Bears and the Bees! My code KELSEY15 will save you on your entire order when buying from their website.

Just One

Whenever I play a word game, I always think of my mom because she can’t get enough of this style. Just One continues to be a top favorite word game. It’s cooperative, easy to learn, and a total crowd pleaser.

Farmer’s Market

I think this game would be so cute gifted with some of her favorite local goods! Head to your local Farmer’s Market and pick her out some canned salsa, some homemade fudge, and maybe even a custom piece of jewelry to go with it. I promise you’ll melt her heart!

Patchwork

This two player game is one I’ll never tire of. It’s perfect to enjoy together after you’ve sent all the kids to bed. Pop open a bottle of wine or fill up her tumbler full of ice and water (I’m never without my tumbler) and embark on a cozy evening together.

Encore

I’ll always love the simple joy that comes from a great roll & write. Encore is a delightfully enjoyable dice game that is very easy to each and highly replayable.

Are there any games you’ve gifted to a mom in your life that she loved? I’d love to hear about it!
