May I have your attention please!

I would like to announce that the Roll and Write craze has officially arrived for children!

Now children can roll and write their way to victory as they build their very own castle! 

Get in, get the gold, grab a little more gold…okay maybe just one more piece of gol- OH NO! The dragon’s waking! Grab your gold and GET OUT!

Sometimes it can be hard to find a decent game for kids in that 5 year age range. 

They’re too young to play some of the bigger games for kids 8 and up, yet too old to want to play the younger, more toddler geared games. 

Luckily there are games out there like Farmini that hits the sweet spot for kids ages 5 and up! 

Board games are a great way to encourage critical thinking, problem solving, and cooperation with kids.

In HABA’s new game Luxantis, players will work together to devise a plan to vanquish shadow creatures that are advancing towards the castle. Navigating through a labyrinth to find magical items, they will need to decide how best to divide and conquer the board in order to win. Throughout the game they will have to reevaluate and adjust their plan as each turn can bring about unexpected changes to the game board. 

The only way to win is together, so they’ll have to stay sharp and help each other all along the way if they hope to vanquish the shadow creatures and win the game.

We’ve all been there. A new game comes out that looks fun and different and we are instantly intrigued and curious. Sometimes it’s putting a fun twist on an old classic. Sometimes it’s just straight up different and we are squinting our eyes at it wondering, “Is that really as fun as it looks? Will it work for my kids?”

Let me tell you, we’ve had our fair share of buyers remorse when it comes to board games but also a fair amount of pleasant surprises. So in spirit of it being almost Halloween, we thought we’d run through some of our children’s and family games that have either tricked us or treated us with their gimmicks!
