A favorite for families, Chase the Ace is a simple game where you try to not have the lowest card of the round. Chase the Ace plays out over multiple rounds, slowly dwindling down until there are just one player left as the winner. It’s a simple game that leads to a lot of fun moments and laughs.
What You’ll Need
- 1 Standard Deck with Jokers removed
- 3+ Players
- 3 counters of some type for each player
Set Up
Shuffle the deck thoroughly.
The dealer deals each player one card face down and placed the remaining deck in front of them.
Now you’re ready to play!
How to Play
The player to the left of the dealer begins.
They look at their card and decide if they want to trade it with the player on their left, or keep their card.
Players keep their card secret, you must trade without knowing what the other player has.
Cards are ranked Ace Low to King High.
Play continues clockwise with each player choosing to either keep or trade their card.
You must trade your card unless you have a King. If a player tries to trade with you but you have a King, simply reveal the King by flipping it face up. This blocks the trade. Play continues with the player to the left.
Once the play gets back to the dealer, the dealer must choose whether they want to keep their card or trade it with the top card of the deck.
If the dealer decides to trade, they flip over the top card of the deck, this is their card. If they reveal a King this way, it blocks their trade and the dealer must keep their card instead.
All players then reveal their card. The player or players with the lowest card must put in one of their counters to the center.
If you put in your last counter this way, you are out of the game.
Winning
The last player left in the game wins!

This is a fun game to play with quarters as counters with the winner taking all the quarters in the center!
