Having a selection of seasonal and holiday themed

Having a selection of seasonal and holiday themed games is one of my favorite ways to make parts of the year more special. We only get out our Christmas games as we near Advent and then they get packed up along with our Christmas decorations until next year. Just start by added one game or two each year during your favorite seasons and pretty soon you’ll have a fun collection of games that get to shine at different times of the year! Rules for how to play James Bond HERE! Save this one and share it with someone you want to play with on Thanksgiving! Goal: be the first player to collect four of a kind in each of the stacks in front of you. Using a standard deck of playing cards with the jokers removed, shuffle and deal out the entire deck into face down stacks of four cards:
2 player game: six stacks of 4 to each player
3 player game: four stacks of 4 each
4 player game: three stacks of 4 to each player The remaining stack of four cards are then flipped over and placed face up in the middle of the table. How to play:
There are no turns, players all play at the same time as quickly as they can. Select one of your face down stacks of cards at a time, look at it and decide if you want to exchange a card with a card from the center. If so, select the card from your hand, place it down in the center, then take the card from the center you want into your hand. *there should never be any less than 4 cards in the middle of the table* You may make any additional exchanges if you’d like. If not, return these four cards face down into front of you. Now select a different stack to do the same. As soon as you have four of a kind in each of your stacks, call out JAMES BOND! Then flip your stacks over to reveal your sets and win the game! (If you were wrong, you automatically lose and the other players win.) #tabletopfamilycardgames

It seems that this time of the year always passes through like a whirlwind but making sure to keep family game nights on the schedule helps keep us anchored through it all. Game night is our reminder to ourselves to slow down and make the time for what’s truly important: spending time together. And what better way to do that than around the table with a good game? I knew I wanted to bring back theses ikea Alex drawers in the new house. I previously used them to build custom built in desks in our last home, but now that we have more space I snagged two desks and made a place where the kids can spread out, get creative, and work on all of their projects. Our old picture ledges are getting new life as a work shelf and made the perfect spot for our family artwork. It all has this spot feeling like the best blend of old, new, and home. 🥰

🧹Scopa Quick Rules🧹 ⭐️Goal: Capture cards from the center to earn points. Points are awarded based on specific end-of-round achievements. The first player or team to reach 11 points wins. 👥Players: 2–4 (4 players play in teams) ♣️Setup: Using a standard deck, remove all 8s, 9s, and 10s, leaving 40 cards. Shuffle, then deal three cards to each player and four face-up in the center. The remaining deck is placed beside the center. 💫Gameplay: Players take turns playing one card from their hand to try to capture cards from the center. Capture cards by:
* Matching by Rank: Play a card that matches the rank of a center card to capture it (e.g., a 5 captures a 5).
* Match by Sum: Play a card that equals the sum of multiple cards in the center (e.g., a 5 captures a 3 and 2).
* Note: If both conditions apply, you only capture the card you matched the rank of. Card Values:
Ace = 1,
2–7 = face value,
Jack/Queen/King = 8, 9, 10. No Capture: If you can’t capture, play a card from your hand to the center. 🧹Scopa: Clearing all cards from the center in one turn is called a Scopa, earning 1 extra point at the end of the round. (A Scopa on the last play of the round does not count.) When players play all three cards, deal another three to each from the deck. Do not add more cards to the center. 🔵End of Round: When all players have played their cards, the last player to capture collects any remaining cards in the center. 🎖️Scoring: At round’s end, players earn 1 point each for:
* Capturing the most cards
* Capturing the most cards in Diamonds
* Capturing the 7 of Diamonds

This is my kind of a souvenir! Getting character autographs are one of my favorite things to do in the parks, it feels like a magical scavenger hunt. I have a few autograph books from our previous trips and love flipping through them, but this might just be my favorite autograph “book” yet! We’ll enjoy playing with these cards and reminiscing about our time at Disney World for years to come! They say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover

They say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, and it’s also true for games. Inside it’s underwhelming box, Tower Up was hiding an absolute gem of a family game. You’re working to build up buildings in various districts on the board. Each time you build a new building, you must contribute to the buildings it connects to. This requires you to plan your moves carefully and gather the supplies you need to be successful. Just don’t wait too long to make your move because prime spots get snatched up quick! I love that the turns are simple; you can either gather resources or build, the strategy is layered with highly tactical moves to make, and the game plays snappy with quick turns that allows it to keep a great pace. It’s the exact recipe a game needs in order for it to become a classic and I can see our family enjoying this one for a looooong time.

Nothing like a good room update! Having more light in this room just completely sets the tone I’m going for. I want this space to feel like a warm hug; like it’s been here all along. From the family crokinole board on the wall to the game table in the middle, I want you to feel like you can kick off your shoes and stay a while! I’m especially loving the new rug which is so perfectly soft and most importantly easy to clean (ask me how I know...😅) It’s from the new Louisa collection from @chrislovesjulia and @loloirugs and feels vintage in the best way. Now to just figure out a gallery wall design to complement the TV... One of my favorite things about Boop is that it’s the perfect little game to sneak in during those small moments. Drinking a coffee, enjoying breakfast, watching the sun set on the porch. It’s thinky without being taxing and familiar enough to feel comfortable. We love the cute Halloween twist on the original game for a little spooky season fun. More of a Christmas season fan?
